THE UNIVERSE IS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory is home to Cosmos at the Castle, Cork's fun and exciting location to learn about the Universe. Cosmos at the Castle is an award-winning exhibition highlighting recent discoveries of extreme life forms on Earth and their implications for life in outer space.
The Universe is at your fingertips during this interactive, self-guided experience. Explore hours of Earth and Space science video content; send an email to Space at the Pan Galactic Station and track its navigation; explore the night sky in the state of the art planetarium; meet Cosmo, a friendly virtual astronaut, and share your theories on alien life; use cinema sized video screens to explore the formation of the Universe and how life developed on Earth; play The Comet Chaser in Ireland's first interactive theatre and virtually save the Earth; and find out what researchers from the Cork Institute of Technology are up to at BCO Labs.
At scheduled times (daily at 13:30 and 15:30) take a journey back in time and learn about the history of Blackrock Castle. Explore the lower rooftop overlooking Cork Harbour and then dive down to the dungeon, a National Monument, while your guide regales you with tales of the past and present.
By Car: From the city centre, follow the N22 (St.Patrick's Street) and N8 (Merchant's Quay), turn right onto Custom House Street and cross the bridge to Albert's Quay.
