ICONIC COUNTRY HOME - RICH IN DECOR & ANTIQUITIES
Belleek Castle, an iconic country home, dates back to the 1820's. It is the ancestral home of the Knox-Gores of Ballina and is situated in 1,000 acres of forestry. There is so much exciting history behind its massive stone walls.
The Castle, now a hotel, is rich in décor and antiquities with many great open fires to warm your steps back through half a millennium. The Castle Tours cover the history of the castle and its people. You will see private dining rooms including the baronial banqueting hall. Today, Belleek Castle is also home to the spectacular Marshall Doran Collection, Ireland's finest collection of Jurassic fossils and medieval armour - and the bed of the great pirate queen Grace O'Malley.
If you are interested in Ireland's heritage and history, you will find the tours informative and enjoyable. While you are there you can also enjoy the hotels dining facilities and services.
200 Acres of Woodland
Belleek Castle is located in the wonderful Belleek Woods, right on the Wild Atlantic Way. Comprising 200 acres of woodland with trees up to 300 years old, the woods are ideal for walking, running or cycling. Within a 10 minute drive, you will reach Enniscrone, famous for its long beach suitable for surfing, horse riding or walking and its international golf course. Furthermore, Ballina is known as the 'Salmon Capital of Ireland' and Belleek stands on the banks of the river Moy - the perfect spot for fishing.
Located a 10 minute drive from Ballina town centre. Coming from Foxford on the N59, continue to follow Teeling St/N59 through town. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Corcoran's Terrace and continue onto Killala Rd. After 2km (1.2 miles), turn right towards Belleek (signposted). Turn right behind the forest car park and follow the road until the gates - if the gates are closed (different opening hours during winter months), ring the bell - they are there!
